The ever engaging Judge Kathleen Cox joined Bob Clark and Everyday Law for a fast moving discussion of what's going on in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, Maryland. Judge Cox discussed her origin story from Law Clerk to Federal Judge, James R. Miller Jr. to the federal public defenders office to partnership at Venable, Baetjer and Howard.
Inevitably, much of the focus concerned the difficult transition from paper legal files to electronic ones and the unforeseen problems lurking in such an undertaking. Judge Cox discussed some forward looking benefits of such a system including greater use of video conferencing which will reduce security and transportation costs in criminal cases involving incarcerated offenders.
Her suggestion for prospective judges in the HCCC audience was to do more professionally, personally and not to be satisfied with with doing the minimum.
